Selena Gomez's New Lyric Video For 'Only You' is Haunting

Selena Gomez's New Lyric Video For 'Only You' is Haunting

Selena Gomez teased her cover song for 13 Reasons Why, “Only You,” nearly a month ago by tweeting a 30-second snippet.

She has released the entire video to her VEVO page, and it’s both gorgeous and deeply evocative.

The video features scenes from the heartbreaking (and groundbreaking) new show 13 Reasons Why, and if the show was difficult for you to watch, this video will definitely be as well.

The video shows the song’s lyrics written across the screen (by hand) alongside some of the most moving and emotive clips of the show. Many of the clips are chosen to directly correlate with the lyrics, for example, “All I needed was the love you gave” paired with Hannah (the character who commits suicide in the Netflix show.)

It’s a stunning video and the perfect accompaniment to a powerful show.

Watch it (if you can stomach all of the troubling themes) below.

'13 Reasons Why' Stars Katherine Langford & Miles Heizer Will Star in a New Movie Together

13 Reasons Why only premiered last month, and already we’re getting a reunion — kind of.

Turns out that Katherine Langford and Miles Heizer, who played Hannah and Alex, are going to star in a new movie together.

The flick is called Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda and will also star Nick Robinson and Logan Miller and be directed by Greg Berlanti.

Based on the book by Becky Albertalli, the movie will be about a not-so-openly gay teenager Simon Spier who, after a email written by him falls into the wrong hands, is forced to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before being pushed out.

We can’t wait to see it!

'13 Reasons Why' Fans Put Together List of Triggers Happening In Every Episode

'13 Reasons Why' Fans Put Together List of Triggers Happening In Every Episode

13 Reasons Why is the series that no one can stop talking about right now.

It deals with depression, suicide, rape…everything we should be talking about in terms of how to deal and how to help. However, some viewers aren’t huge fans because of the triggers that it sets off.

A “trigger” can be anything really which can cause (an event or situation) to happen or exist, and in this case, it can give any viewer a flashback of a dark time and prompt them to return to that same situation.

One mental health organization called Headspace is opening up the conversation about the Netflix series’ graphic scenes and subjects.

“We need to talk more about youth suicide, but there’s a way of doing that and a way we can raise those concerns and have a range of awareness,” Kristen Douglas, national manager of Headspace school support says. “But we need to steer clear of really dangerous things like method, or oversimplifying it to one thing like bullying.”

If you have had thoughts of suicide, are a survivor of rape, or anything the show touches on, fans have put together a great list with each episode and their triggers. See it below:

13 Reasons Why has a lot of fans, but one celeb is speaking out against it.

Singer Zara Larsson revealed that she’s not a fan of the highly-praised Netflix series.

13 reasons why is mehh don’t @ me,” Zara tweeted, later adding, “In my opinion, it romanticizes a revenge suicide and it doesn’t bring up mental illness or depression AT ALL.”

“i do understand the message, the show is just not my cup of tea. Too unrealistic for me. But thats just me,” she also wrote.

When fans got defensive, Zara decided to delete her tweets.

'13 Reasons Why' Had Therapy Dogs on Set Because Scenes Were So Emotional

'13 Reasons Why' Had Therapy Dogs on Set Because Scenes Were So Emotional

Let’s face it, 13 Reasons Why can be hard to watch. Especially episode nine.

Dylan Minnette opens up about how some of his cast members were able to deal with some of the stress that comes along with filming scenes about bullying, rape and suicide.

“I know there was one scene, I wasn’t around, but they had therapy dogs on set,” the 20-year-old actor tells PopSugar. “There was a puppy per hour. They really tried to help out. The puppies helped.”

Dylan credits his co-star Katherine Langford for having to deal with this most difficult elements of the storyline.

“She had the brunt of the emotional stuff,” he explains. “I mean, we all have very emotional parts, but this is about her character.”

Thankfully, Katherine explains that she felt very safe, no matter how heavy the content was to film.

“I want to reiterate how much support was there for me,” she says. “When I was shooting with Justin Prentice, who plays Bryce, there’s a scene we do in episode 12 which is physically hard to do, just as a human being. I feel like so much of Hannah’s life, especially the last five episodes, is so tragic that you just have to put that shock aside and get through it.

She continues, “It’s only been after the show and after wrapping that I’ve gone, wow, we really did handle some really heavy stuff. I’m really proud of how we handle it, because as you said we don’t shy away from them.”
