Based on the book series “The Mortal Instruments”, the show follows Clary Fray, who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters – human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons.
Now thrown into the world of demon hunting after her mother is kidnapped, Clary must rely on the mysterious Jace and his fellow Shadowhunters Isabelle and Alec to navigate this new dark world.

The Shadowhunters star revealed in the new issue of Modeliste magazine that acting was never the plan at all.
“I actually never intended to become an actor. My initial plan was to go into finance,” she revealed.
Economics? That’s a couple of planets away from acting!
Kat continued, “Economics was my passion and I wanted to become a financial analyst or CEO or economist. However, I ran into a family friend who was directing a community theater show, gave it a short for kicks, fell in love and the rest is history. I fulfilled by economics dreams [though] by pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.”
If you think that’s impressive, she’s still working on a bigger degree!
In an interview with Teen Vogue a few years ago, Kat revealed that while working on Shadowhunters, she’s still studying for her Masters in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University.
“I love the way that they’ve built their love story because Clary and Simon have grown up together and they know each other better than they know themselves, and now they’re both a part of this new world and beginning to find their way,” Kat told EW. “They’re both changing. Clary is growing up. She’s beginning to fight her own battles; she’s maturing. And Simon is as well. Simon’s no longer the nerdy guy that we saw in episode 1. He’s becoming a vampire; he’s owning his powers; he’s starting to have a lot more confidence. And Clary is seeing this change in him…They say all things happen for a reason, and Clary and Simon are a result of that natural progression.”
“For Simon, that’s always been one of his dreams,” Alberto said. “There was a moment at the end of episode 13 of season 1 where Simon says to Clary, ‘I love you.’ They’d just captured Hodge. That was where the spark kind of happened. She said it back but it wasn’t as solidified as a ‘friendship love’ as it had been. That was the first time that it might’ve been something more.”

Well…they’re not, but we’re sure that we’ll hear more of what they did share about the current season from the 2017 aTVFest in Atlanta, which they stopped by with showrunners Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin.
Meanwhile, co-star Emeraude Toubiaopened up about a storyline for Izzy that will take her in a whole different direction.
“It’s something that was not in the books, it was just created for TV,” she dished. “As an actress it’s scary but it’s also exciting because you get to push your boundaries from what you usually do.
She added, “Izzy being powerful, it will be nice to see her really break and fall down and I hope the fans really appreciate it. It’s been hard work, it’s been hard and I hope they like what we’ve done.”
