Simone Biles will be helping hand out university scholarships to students at the upcoming THR Women in Entertainment Breakfast.
The 19-year-old Olympic gymnast will join Emma Stone to honor 16 girls who are currently in the Women in Entertainment Mentorship Program.
They will each receive a $10,000 scholarship to attend the university of her choice, with two girls receiving a full-ride scholarship each worth more than $200,000 to attend Loyola Marymount University.
“We are thrilled to have two of the most accomplished young women of today, Simone Biles and Emma Stone, presenting the Women in Entertainment Mentorship Program scholarships. Each is a shining example of achievement in her respective field,” Janice Min, president and chief creative officer of The Hollywood Reporter-Billboard Media Group, said. “It is a privilege to have the support of so many in the Hollywood community as participants and donors, people who are invested in sending girls to college who otherwise might not attend.”
The scholarships will be presented during The Hollywood Reporter‘s 2016 Women in Entertainment Breakfast on December 7 in Los Angeles.
During her appearance on Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the GOAT (and most decorated gymnast of all time) gave the host some pointers on sticking a perfect landing and her giggle just before that is the most adorable thing!
Simone Biles knows all the ups and down of body image and body shaming.
“It’s hard growing up in a sport where you compete with very little clothing on your body and everyone is staring at [your body] no matter how good you are,” she recently shared about the sport.
Simone tackles the subject straight on in her new book, “Courage To Soar: A Body in Motion, A Life in Balance”, and opens up about one time she overheard one coach call her fat after crashing on the mat.
“I dismissed myself from the floor so nobody could see me, and I walked to the back behind the curtains and I was crying…Martha [Karolyi, former USA gymnastics national team coordinator] pulled me back on the floor, and she gave me a little bit of a pep talk and was like, ‘See, you can’t train like this and let the results show,’” she shared during an interview.
Simone adds, “So I went back to the gym and I did as told. Her pep talk kind of gave me a little bit of an up rather than a down…it felt good to hear her because I was terrified she was going to be upset with me.”

“As I gazed up at a balcony full of beautiful young women ‘Ladies, you are the leaders. You’re the future. We need you. I’m with you, we’re all with you,’” Zendaya captioned an Instagram pic in which she is standing on stage giving her speech. “Thank you @glamourmag for having events like this where we honor each other, celebrate each other and look at our sisters and say thank you…I see you. What an honor. #womenoftheyear.”
